About Me:
MPI, a registered a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was born in 2004 when eleven college graduates served as the first Program Directors. Every year since, a new group of yearlong volunteers continue the work of that founding group and initiate new programs to reach out to local communities.
2007 marked MPI’s first international expansion, into Quito, Ecuador, as MPI began work in the neighborhood of Rumiloma, in the Chillos Valley southeast of Quito. MPI-Ecuador's approach is three-fold:
· Empower individuals through programs that develop their capacities to advance economically and educationally, and to become leaders in their communities.
· Strengthen institutions by working alongside them to introduce best practices, connect them to national and international resources, and expand their services.
· Build networks by creating stronger links among community members, connecting people to local institutions, and promoting inter-institutional collaboration.
