We all know the stats:

  • one million plastic cups used on airline flights in the US every six hours
  • two million plastic beverage bottles used in the US every five minutes
  • 1.14 million brown paper supermarket bags used in the US every hour.
  • 410,000 paper cups disposable hot-beverage paper cups used in the US every fifteen minutes
  • 60,000 plastic bags used in the US every five seconds

I'm going to get off plastic bags   disposable cups and  water bottles

Got any stats to add to this that will motivate us all to get engaged?

Laura has purchased a new travel bag which folds up into a little teeny tiny thing with a velcro strap that can be easily attached to a belt or shoved into a purse.  It unfolds into a full size nylon shopping bag.  Just like the coffee cup or water bottle, it just lives with all that other "stuff" - wallet, keys, sunglasses, that go with us everywhere.

Scroll down to the second image here...that is the one million cups you talk about Vicki (and I'm guessing maybe where you got your stats from:

As Cameron said, watch this video, it's really eye-opening:
