IMPACT

What does Create an Impact mean?

The definition of IMPACT is the effect or influence of one person, thing, or action, on another.

What did you do? What action did you take? What do you want to share with the world?

When you "Create an Impact" you are recording what IMPACT you made.

To create an impact, enter what you did in the upper right-hand corner. You have 140 characters to describe your impact.

When complete, press "Save."

After your impact has been saved you can Measure It, Connect It and Express It.

To measure means you can keep track of how often you do that particular impact.  Give it a metric and enter a quantity.

To connect means you can connect your impact to a project, campaign or organization. Your impact will roll-up with all of the other members impact.

To express means to write more about your impact. Here you can add images, videos, text....it's up to you! Be expressive.

Let's say you "Planted trees." You do this on a regular basis. Each time you plant trees you can "Create an Impact."

You started with planting 3 trees and after a month you realize (after a couple entries) you've planted 40 trees.

When connected with the larger community, you realize that over 30,000 trees have been planted.

Now that's IMPACT!

Why would I want to track my Impact?

We spend so much time tracking our work history, but where do we keep a list of our good deeds?

With Zazengo, you can keep track of what really matters. Your one small action coupled with additional small actions can create major change.

When you "Create an Impact" in Zazengo, you are adding your individual actions with the communites actions.

Together identify, share and celebrate the unique and powerful contributions everyone is making individually and collectively.

How do I Create an Impact?

Creating an Impact is easy.

On each page you will see a "Create an Impact" text box in the top right corner of each page. Start typing and the window will expand. You can enter up to 140 characters. When complete, press "Save."

A pop-up window will appear telling you your impact has been saved.

Now you can:  Measure It, Connect It and Express It.

To measure means you can keep track of how often you do that particular impact.  Give it a metric and enter a quantity.

Note: When you measure, your impact will appear in the header area on the impact strands.

To connect means you can connect your impact to a project, campaign or organization. Your impact will roll-up with all of the other members impact.

To express means to write more about your impact. Here you can add images, text, videos, whatever you want - be expressive!

When finished, click "save" and your impact will appear on your on your Impact Profile page.

Can I edit or delete an Impact entry?

Yes. At anytime, you can edit and delete an impact entry. Just go to your Impact Profile page. Find the entry and click edit or delete.

What is Measure It and what is a metric?

A metric is a measurement of something. When you Create an Impact you have the option to Measure It. You type in a metric and give it a quantity.

For example: I used a reusable cup. I'm wanting to keep track of how many disposable cups I've saved. My metric would be "disposable cups saved."

The quantity (or how many) would be 1.

What does Connect It mean?

To connect means you can connect your impact to a project, campaign or organization that you are a member of. Your impact will roll-up with all of the other members impact.

As of right now, no. We will be adding this feature in the near future.

Can I share an Impact with someone?

In the near future we will be adding the ability to "share" an impact with someone.

Maybe a friend said something that made an impact on you. Maybe you and a co-worker recycled at work and you are having such a great time on Zazengo, you'd like to gift her an impact.

This share ability will allow just that.

We expect to have this available in late fall of '08.
